If you have experience with a variety of plant machinery and enjoy working on dynamic construction sites, this is the perfect opportunity for you. You’ll be supporting key projects across the North West England and Southern Scotland, playing a crucial role in ensuring that operations run smoothly.
As a Plant Operative, you’ll be responsible for operating a wide range of machinery, assisting with site preparation, and ensuring safe and efficient machine operations throughout the project lifecycle. Your contributions will help our team meet deadlines while maintaining high safety standards and the highest quality of work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Plant Machinery: Safely and efficiently operate construction equipment such as excavators, diggers, dumpers, and cranes.
- Site Preparation & Maintenance: Assist in preparing the site for construction activities by using plant equipment for tasks like digging, levelling, and lifting materials.
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and move materials across the site using plant machinery.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and ensure that machinery is operating according to safety guidelines.
- Equipment Checks: Perform regular pre- and post-operation inspections of machinery to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Support Other Teams: Assist other site operatives and tradespeople as needed, particularly with plant-related tasks or moving heavy materials.
- Assist in Site Cleanup: Help with the clean-up of the site at the end of the working day, ensuring all machinery is safely stored.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: Proven experience in operating plant machinery in a construction environment.
- Plant Machinery Certification: Valid plant machinery tickets or certifications (e.g., CPCS, NPORS) are essential.
- Reliability: Dependable and able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, especially when handling machinery and materials.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills for working closely with the site team and following instructions effectively.
- CSCS Card: A valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card is required.
- Health & Safety Knowledge: A good understanding of health and safety regulations in a construction setting.
