Shuttering Joiner / Steel Fixer

Join True North Construction as a Shuttering Joiner / Steel Fixer.

As a Shuttering Joiner / Steel Fixer you will be responsible for creating, assembling, and dismantling formwork structures for concrete pours, as well as cutting, bending, and fixing steel reinforcement. You will work closely with site supervisors and fellow tradespeople to ensure all works are completed safely, accurately, and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and construction plans.
• Setting out and constructing formwork for concrete structures (walls, columns, beams, slabs, foundations).
• Installing, cutting, bending, and tying steel reinforcement bars and mesh.
• Ensuring shuttering and reinforcement works meet project specifications and tolerances.
• Stripping and dismantling formwork after concrete curing.
• Adhering to site health & safety policies and ensuring a safe working environment.
• Working as part of a team to meet deadlines and project requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience as a Shuttering Joiner, Steel Fixer, or Formwork Carpenter.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Strong knowledge of concrete shuttering systems and steel reinforcement techniques.
• Good understanding of health & safety on site.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
• CSCS card (essential).
• Additional site qualifications (e.g., IPAF, PASMA, First Aid, SSSTS) desirable but not essential.
